The name Spetses , derives from the italian word “Spezzie” which was used by the Venetians Dominators many centuries ago, in order to describe the island as “The island of fragrances”. At the ancient times, Spetses was known as “Pityoussa” due to the many pine trees that cover the hills and even today in many places, reach the sea! |

Starting your trip by car from the region of Attica , it will take up to 3 hours to reach Kosta, the coast of Peloponnesos right across Spetses Island. In order to preserve the traditional style of Spetses, the use of cars is prohibited during the summer season in Greece . At Kosta, there are lined up the Traditional Kaiques (traditional touristic boats) and the Water-Taxis ready to make your way to the most popular island! | | Reaching the main port of Spetses , where the disembarkation will take place, you will see the most central places of the island, ready to welcome you. Even from your first visit to Spetses you will feel the island’s charm and you will be addicted to it! The old Mansions that used to belong to great Captains of the Greek Revolution back in 1821, dominate the sea-front road of Spetses and are the most imposing feature of the island. Behind almost every corner there are beatiful pebble-yards, an actual jewell! | | Welcome to the Island of Spetses ! Wander around the narrow streets, enjoy a ride on the horse-buggies, taste the local delicious dishes and on your way back grand yourself with one more short trip by the Traditional Kaiques. They are here, waiting for you, inspite of the current modern era of speed, being a classic value of the Greek Naval History and the Greek Islandish Tradition ! | | | | | | | | | |
